Australian-based punk act Dust are releasing their debut album Sky is Falling on
December 5, 2025 via Kanine Records. Blending jagged instrumentation and
melancholic soundscapes into a visceral, genre-defiant identity, drummer Kye Cherry,
bassist Liam Smith, saxophonist Adam Ridgway and dual vocalists/guitarists Justin
Teale and Gabriel Stove developed a sound that is both cathartic and confrontational.
Their debut EP, et cetera, etc, released in early 2023, captured a raw and spontaneous
fragment of the band's early evolution. The momentum garnered off the back of the
release led to sold out shows across the country, festival slots at Laneway, Pitchfork
and London Calling. Their performances at BIGSOUND, Brighton's The Great Escape
and SXSW Austin, TX all received stellar reviews on the international stage.
Towards the end of 2023, the band performed an Australian tour in support of Interpol
and Bloc Party, shared stages with shoegaze pioneers Slowdive at Sydney's Enmore
Theatre and joined Protomartyr in Antwerp. Their powerful live presence earned them
another invitation to perform alongside Interpol in support of the 20th Anniversary of
Antics, taking the stage at some of the most renowned venues across the UK & Europe.
In 2024, Dust began reforming their sound, embracing free-jazz inflections and reverb-
heavy guitar work through singles, nodding toward shoegaze and experimentalism.
Dust's evolution continues on debut Sky Is Falling. Their sound, grounded in genre
defiance and reinvention - shoegaze and electronic experimentalism side-by-side with
elusive saxophone arrangements and abrasive guitar lines - is firmly rooted in
melancholia and self-inquiry. Anarchic propulsion that denotes Geese to Double Virgo
level extremities, with blissful nods to the classics, Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine.
